Met my Deadline, the fanfare sounds hollow

(Current background on all my devices courtesy of Knit picks with slight modification by me)

So I finally met my deadline. Yay I got my two thousand word essay submitted on time, just barely.

When coming up to a deadline does anyone else feel the pressure building and building and building… no one? Just me? *flops down with a dramatic sigh*

In a way I think I normally thrive on that pressure. The tension builds up, and I bolster myself by looking forward to that feeling of relief and joy that I usually get as soon as the essay has been submitted. However today that feeling was nowhere to be found, I submitted my paper in turnitin and I just felt like okay. That’s good. You got it done… okay.

Things just rang a bit hollow. You know? I talked myself into doing a little happy dance, just because one of my commitments to myself is to celebrate milestones along the way.

I’m wondering if the recent chapter in my life’s story book beginning its conclusion overshadowed my joy. Im not sure because in terms of that I feel very much at peace and have a deep sense of clarity and acceptance.

Maybe I pushed myself too hard towards the end and my brain just needs a reset. That happens quite often. I mean as much effort as I put into the planning, and as much as that made theessay writing easier, I did still end up writing up about one thousand eight hundred of those words between the hours of 1pm and 3:52 pm this afternoon. That’s pretty radical when i think about it.

Hmm, okay I’ve got it now. Writing is such an illuminating process. My conclusion and introduction were both very rushed, and I have a sense that they may bring my grade down, however a late submission would mean an automatic 5% deduction of my mark. So I chose to submit on time. My takeaway? Even if you have a great planning strategy, you still need to factor in time to write, proofread, and submit your essay.

Ah it’s good to have gotten a handle on my internal thouggt process through writing this. .

All day I just noticed myself being a bit slower, slightly more thoughtful, so very aware of my need in front of my Rabb, and grateful for the small things. Whilst these are all good things not being able to put my finger on why was sloghtly agitating.

Now I can happily get bavk to be grateful for things like taking my kids to nursery and not needing to lug the buggy up and down three flights of stairs, my youngest bubba is getting to be a big boy 😭😭Alhamdulillah

Take care

Azeezat Adeola,

Fine words weave

P.s. another commitment to myself is to get some writing on this blog once a week. At the very least.

Week 1 ✅

No news…

How do you do?

It’s been a really long time since I blogged anything. I guess that’s because I was banking on me making regular vlogs over on YouTube. I didn’t get very far with that however…
Life has been plodding along, as it does. 😊
I feel like there should be a lot to update, as I haven’t posted in so long, but I also feel like if there had been anything worthy of updating you with, I probably would have blogged about it in the first place. Nevertheless I will fill you in on a few of the things that stand out.

Firstly one of my uncles helped me paint my living room one weekend a few weeks back. It’s now this lovely shade of pale green.

That’s as far as I’ve gotten in terms of home renovations for the time being, I ordered a shower frame, but I have to return that as what I actually need us some sort of bath frame. So far the time being I am still bath/shower curtain-less. Speaking of curtains, I’m still without curtains for every room in my house. Lol. My mum says I shouldn’t worry though, that home renovation is something you do bit by bit.

In other news it’s nanowrimo time. Fortunately or unfortunately (depending on how you look at things) my laptop is busted. I bought a Bluetooth keyboard, so I could use it with my tablet as a workaround until I get my computer sorted, but what can I say, it’s just not the same.

Since my macbook is pretty old, I’m going to find out if it’s possible to upgrade it to a newer version. In sha Allah (God willing) that works out in my favour. So I’ll be bringing my laptop along to class with me tomorrow, and heading to my Genius Bar appointment afterwards.

Speaking of class BSL (British sign language) has been going really well for me. I got 100% on bsl 101 so I’m proud of myself. I want to replicate that result in the next two exams.

I’m not sure if I mentioned on my blog that I was thinking of going back to university? I’ve given it some more thought, and I’ve decided that instead I’m going to pursue my BSL qualifications and go in to a career in this field 🙂 the higher you go in terms of levels (i.e. BSl lvl 1, BSL lvl 2 etc. ) the more expensive it gets, so I’m going to have to keep saving towards that.

My writing for theatre course is coming to an end next week. We’ll get the opportunity to have our written scenes performed, so I’m looking forward to that.

Other than that things are pretty much the same, I’m still doing scouts (Cub Scout section leader!) although I’ll be taking a week off before each of my next two bsl exams). It’s getting colder in London, and the days are getting shorter.

I guess it’s like they say, no news is good news.

I’m happy, Alhamdulilah.

So that’s all for now.

I’ll try to get back into blogging regularly.

Take care, and thanks for reading

I made a schedule for myself

The schedule is made up of activities geared towards the various things I want to achieve this year. Having done that I’ve got about two activities to do per day.
Anyway Arabic is down for today, and I’ve employed myself in accomplishing that.

I’m quite happy with what I’ve achieved in the last two hours.

Anyway I just wanted to share this in order to promote IOU: Islamic Online University. It’s where I’m doing my diploma- and it’s free! So if you want to learn something new, maybe take a look, and enrol on a couple courses.

That’s it! 👍
Have a nice Friday.

Jummah Mubarak too
